Aristotle University Racing Team Electric (Arist.u.r.t.le): High Voltage System & Regenerative Braking

A successful design of an efficient and reliable High Voltage System in an electrically powered vehicle is a subject of a thorough and multifaceted study. Many times, several parameters of a subsystem are not directly measurable. For this reason, it is necessary to simulate these complex systems with the help of software programs. This workshop is aimed at Electrical Engineers and Computer Engineers and anyone who wants to learn more about the High Voltage System of the electric vehicle which includes the Accumulator Container, the Inverter and the Electric Motors. The simulation model will be presented in the Simulink / MATLAB program as well as a brief explanation of how the motor is controlled by the power inverter. Our team members will also present on one of the most important advantages of an electric motor; the regenerative braking. Regenerative Braking is one of the most recent projects the group has begun to study with the aim to its incorporation into the new car for the 2018-2019 season. Finally, there will be questions about what has been presented and the participants will be able to learn more about our Aristurtle’s activities.
